Congratulations Karin Elliott, creator of the weekend backpack program for the Outer Limits School, and this week's #bensbellee. Karin was nominated by Bill Berk for her initiative in helping families in need at the school. Karin was not asked to start the program, she simply walked in the front door 18 months ago and said she has thought for years about starting a program for families who need extra food over the weekend, and she would spearhead it. Karin puts together 20 backpacks for children who need extra nutrition on the weekends. She accepts contributions from others, but does most of the work herself. This year she has arranged for each child to receive new clothing, shoes and toys for Christmas and provided a holiday dinner to each family.
